This year I will be happier

I haven't done any New Year's resolutions. They are so hard to keep. The longer the list of resolutions is, the harder it is to get anything done. Why even try?

We mostly know what is good for us.

It's another thing to know what is good for you, than to do what is good for you.
Also it's hard to change old habits. You can't become tidier just because it's January.
It's possible to keep on doing something for a week or two. Continuing doing something for the whole year is much harder.

Somehow January is a perfect time to start over. There are 365 days ahead to find "the better you."

A wishlist for this year could be:
  • Less stress
  • More activity
  • Eating healthier food
  • Spending more time with family and friends
  • Getting enough sleep
  • Being happy
  • Becoming tidier
Here we go January. How about the rest of the year? Change doesn't happen until you realize, that the changes are something you really want to commit to.

How about some good-for-you goals instead?
  • Do one thing at a time
  • Explore new hobbies
  • Positive self-talk
  • Spending less time on the phone
I'm learning slowly to do one thing at a time again. Multitasking makes me less productive. Also I'm learning to concentrate to get at least one thing done every day. Of course there are more thing to get done every day. My idea is to do one thing from my to-do list, that is filled with things that don't have to be right now. Maybe next week, next month, or so. The funny thing is, that procrastination is so easy. Instead of just doing what has to be done I find myself nothing, or something useless. Actually it's not laziness. Or it doesn't feel like that.

It's surprisingly hard to spend less time on the phone. It's impossible to stop using the phone, and at the same time you can't use it all the time.

Maybe my word of the year will be self-discipline.

Before the year changed, I did at least something differently. I spent the last day of the year doing some organizing at home. And I have started drawing again after a long break.

Have a rocking year!
